Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat, Stonewood

Buy Cheap Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat, Stonewood at Amazon.com Order New!

I have been happy with Eddie Bauer products and so wanted to buy this one for a while. I never purchased convertible car seat in the past so I had to do lot of research before buying one.

The previous carseat for infants was getting small for my son, so I decided to buy a bigger car-seat that will last for a long time. I hope this is the last carseat I have to ever buy for my son.

The car-seat fits perfectly in the car without much trouble. I was worried about it and it's effect on the front seat.

My car is Honda Civic 2008 model, It was not a problem at all and I did not pull the front seat too much.

My son likes it and I am happy with the product.

Update:
It's been a month now, there has been not a single instance of belt tangling. Belt tangling was a problem with the infant car-seat that I had from Eddie Bauer.

Buckling the kid is quit easy, It really does not take much effort to buckle up and I can unbuckle the kid with just one hand (with left hand, I am a right handed person)

I have attached a photo with some information for your reference. you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Everything Wrong About This - Amber T. McGinnis -
We got this seat because at the time it was the only one that would fit my infant daughter in her hip brace. And I have never liked it. We bought it in 2008, so they may have improved it since then, but it has nothing going for it. The buckles are extremely hard to get undone (good thing I guess for a toddler - she can't escape), the seat pitches her forward making it uncomfortable for her to sleep in (her head falls forward), the latch straps are tough to remove/insert (I have to put my full body weight into the seat to latch them and even sometimes I struggle with it). I would never buy this again, and after two years and another baby on the way, we've purchased another seat because I am just tired of fighting with it.

Child Development - 16 Months

Parents can be stressed at the idea of raising a toddler. However, the second year of life is not as challenging as the years to come, so parents should enjoy every moment.

By the age of 16 months, most children are increasing their understanding of the world around them. For example, they are less likely to place objects in their mouth and instead will use them for their intended purpose (such as coloring with crayons). A good way for parents to interact with their 16-month-old is through simple games like peekaboo or name that body part.

While most children can walk fairly comfortably by the age of 16 months, they are still unsteady on their feet. For this reason, it is important to keep a close eye on your 16-month-old in order to prevent falls or serious injury. Parents should be sure that the house is childproof by now, meaning that the corners of all sharp furniture are covered to limit bumps and bruises, for instance. Children at this age will also be able to reach more objects than they could before-and parents can be certain that they will try to grab anything within their reach.

Several challenges may arise during the sixteenth month of life. First, parents might find it increasingly difficult to keep their child occupied. Having a variety of games and activities on hand can help to fix this problem. Second, many children begin expressing a preference for their mothers around this age. Such a preference can be difficult for fathers to handle, and it can make separation anxiety worse for both mother and child. One solution is to get fathers more involved to minimize this preference and anxiety, but parents should take comfort in knowing that this is usually temporary.

The sixteenth month of a child's development can be exciting for parents as their child shows more understanding of the world. However, it can also be frustrating to watch them fall as they learn to walk. Parents should try to take each moment as it comes and enjoy the experience.

Car Seat Safety: Statistics and Law

Driving around with your child, you want to make sure that your car is as safe as can be. Here's how to choose a car seat or booster seat for your child.

Know the Facts

According to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, in Canada, collisions are the number one cause of death for children. Having a properly installed car seat can minimize fatalities, and decrease the risk by 75%.

Choose the Right Car Seat

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) surveys all car seats for infants and children. They are rated on a number of categories from clear instructions to ease of use. The good news is, car seat manufacturers are listening to the government's suggestions, and are constantly improving designs. For current information, visit the NHTSA website. You can easily find a car seat that has earned all As in every category. If you work with ebay or froogle at the same time, you can also complete some of your comparison shopping online. If you have seen a car seat that you think you like at the store, check out its safety rating.

Know the Age Groups

The following are just guidelines to get you started. You should always read the instructions on every car seat carefully to find out the height and weight restrictions.

Infants need to be in rear facing car seats. This is until they are roughly 1 year old or 20 lbs.

Toddlers need to be put in forward facing seats with tether straps. Tether straps are very important to safety: if your vehicle doesn't have a tether anchor, contact the dealership to have one installed. This is between roughly 20-40 lbs.

Children who are old enough move out of a car seat still need to use a booster seat. This is until the child is 4'9" tall. This will probably be until the child is about eight years old. Boosterseat.gov is a site that information on when your child can stop using a booster seat.

Airbags

Children should always stay in the back seat away from any airbags. This means that children should always ride in the back seat until they are old enough to use a regular seatbelt. Again, this will probably not be until your child is 8 or 9.

If you buy a used carseat

Make sure that it has not been in an accident. Make sure there is no discoloration or strain marks on the car seat. Check that it has been certified for safety. Don't buy a car seat more than ten years old.

NHTSA has a site, the Office of Defects investigation, that lists all car seats that were recalled from the year 1990 to present. You can check this site for your peace of mind.

Install it properly

You can call your local public health branch to stop by and make sure that your car seat is properly installed. Up to 80% of car seats were not installed correctly (and so would not have the same safety effects that they are designed for) at recent government-held car seat workshops. Find out if there are workshops that you can attend to establish quickly if your child will be safe.

Safety 1st On Board 35 Air Infant Car Seat, Silverleaf

Buy Cheap Safety 1st On Board 35 Air Infant Car Seat, Silverleaf at Amazon.com Order New!

This is the 5th or 6th car seat that I have purchased, previously deciding to go with the Britax brand because all of the "infant" car seats are limited on weight and have seemed to flimsy. I decided to try this new infant seat for our newest member, due in June. My husband and I cannot quit going, "this car seat rocks!"
Here's why...

1. The base of the seat that stays in the car is so easy to put in with the latch system and actually doesn't move! We have had so much trouble in the past getting an infant car seat base to not move past the 1" limit. We have had to try towels and everything in the past. This went in like a breeze and the base actually adjusts height to give the proper recline for the weight of the baby, which is illustrated on the car seat with a small marble.

2. When putting this car seat into the base and removing it, there is barely any tilt or "shifting" required, meaning that the baby will actually be able to stay asleep when getting out of the car or back in while still in the seat. Previous car seats we used meant tilting and moving around the car seat to get it to click into the base or to get the thing off the base! This transition is so nice!

3. Granted, we haven't put our newborn in the car seat yet, but this seat is so light and the handle fits so easy in either your hand grip, or on the crook of your inside arm, which is so much more the case.

4. The padding is phenomenal and has the more breathable material. One of our babies in the past always ended up soaking with sweat in an infant seat that we used to have. Once again, I haven't tried this with the baby but the material is definitely something I haven't seen before on a car seat.

All in all, I am very very please with this purchase, probably the most of all new baby purchases that we have made. I would definitely recommend! you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

An excellent car seat choice for new parents - badboy4unix - new york
With my 6th child, I opted for a combined car seat and stroller combination for the versatility.

My son was taken home from the hospital in this seat and we've used it several times since. I am impressed with this seat for several reasons.

1. Ease and versatility of installation. Seat base locked into the exsiting shoulder strap system in the mini-van with no hassle.
2. Adjustable base angle was an outstanding feature.
3. Placing and removing the seat from the base was a DREAM.... No fighting to get the seat out and potentially shaking the baby awake!.
4. Padding: Exceptional forethought for premies and newborns, extra removalable padding for head and hip support. THIS was a very desirable feature.
5. One of my favorite feature: an adjustable strap that allows you to tighten or loosen the shoulder straps as needed with little effort: this comes in handy as they grow and as the seasons / weather changes the amount of clothing your child wears at a given time changes.
6. Installation angle indicator: shows correct safe install angle for a given seat position.
7. Easy shoulder strap adjustment. Loops slip on and off without extreme effort to change shoulder slots.
8. Excellent documentation. Just make sure you take the time to read it...
9. Significant padding and air cushion support.

Overall you can't go wrong with this unit. I would suggest you consider the stroller seat combo, and investing the extra .00 for a spare base if you have two cars. One other suggestion, get a seat pad, about bucks...it will minimize seat cushion "sink" and the potential for staining your seats.

How to Throw Baby Shower for Twins with Awesome Baby Shower Favors

A baby shower is an immensely joyous occasion not just for the parents to be, but also the guests who won't be unmoved by all the joy and warmth that welcoming a new life presents. Unlike a wedding where you can't really be sure the couple's marriage will last longer than the flowers, a baby shower is a promise of new beginnings that will last a lifetime.

A shower for twins is well...double the fun, and double the joy. There are some special factors that you'll need to include while planning a shower for your friend or relative who's having twins.

A woman carrying twins is going to be under increased strain during the last months of her pregnancy, so make sure you ask her about her preference for the guest list. If she doesn't want a too large gathering of friends, relatives, neighbors and their dog, don't pressure her to. If she's looking forward to a big blast however, don't disappoint her. Remember, she's suffering double the hormonal surges, and needs some time to relax!

Baby gifts for a twin baby shower will have to be for both babies. That includes strollers, car seats and carriages for two etc. Obviously, not too many guests will be able to afford two of everything. This is where your planning genius comes in. Make sure that all guests are informed beforehand that gifts that have been bought by a group of people are best. For instance, friends could get together to pool in money for a large twin stroller, office workers, if they are invited could pool in for two car seats and so on.

Baby gift baskets for a twin shower work best if they are created around a theme. One set of people could have a safety themed gift basket with a thermometer, cotton swaps, baby Tylenol etc. A bed time basket could contain bedding, a nursery monitor, lullaby CDs, and comfy nightclothes for the twins. Two sets of everything will be required, so dividing the baby gift baskets by theme like this will ensure that the parents, who will have double the expenses after their bundles of joy arrive, can have some of their financial burden taken off of them.

Make sure the baby shower favors you choose are twin themed. Online stores these days have favors for just about every kind of baby and situation, and you'll have no trouble finding a baby shower favor that's double the giving pleasure!

Good seat-hard install - Jamal - San Jose, CA
The seat itself is well made with lots of cushioning and you won't mistake it for a cheap seat. Installing it is another matter, it's easily the most difficult seat I've installed when using the seatbelt. I really don't look forward to taking the seat out and having to re-install it just because the time it takes to install it and then adjust it tight enough (I can never get it rock solid tight).

We also have the much cheaper Graco Nautilus which is a breeze to install compared to this seat. If I had a choice again, I'd stick with the Nautilus and its much easier install for both of our cars and pocket the almost 0 savings.

How Should You Feed Your New Infant?

A lot of people "think" infant formula is as good as breast milk. There are also a growing number of people who are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with mothers breast-feeding their infants in public. Quite frankly a woman's breasts were created primarily as the main source of nutrition for human infants. However, throughout our times a woman's breasts have become more of a "sex object" than as their true purpose of nurturing human infants. This may be one reason why so many people are uncomfortable seeing a woman baring her breasts to provide her infant with daily meals. The sight of a woman's breast often creates "sexual arousal" for a lot of people. Most people just don't think of a woman's breasts as "baby bottles."

Findings continue to indicate there is a need to educate the general public that breast-feeding is the best method of feeding and nurturing infants. The next best choice is cow's milk-based infant formula. When choosing a commercial formula, use a brand recommended by your baby's doctor. Do not try to create your own baby formula.

Health experts recommend infants be breast fed for at least a year, and receive breast milk alone until they reach six months of age. There are few people who breast feed continue breast-feeding until one year of age.

The decision to breastfeed is not always possible for every woman. The decision to breastfeed or formula feed your baby should be based upon your comfort level with breastfeeding and your lifestyle. If you decide to feed your baby a commercially prepared formula rest assured that your baby's nutritional needs will be met. You will still bond with your baby.

One of the happiest times of my life was when I was feeding my only child her bottle. It was always a time of bonding for us. We made constant eye contact the entire time she nursed. I now raise Shih Tzu puppies, and I am certain this is a compensation for those unforgettable moments with my own baby daughter. What a thrill it was to watch her as she finished the entire bottle. I felt like jumping and doing a big hooray cheer when she was finished because I felt so comfortable now she was well nourished and nurtured. The bottle feeding times with my only child were some of the most emotionally complete moments of my life. She was the sweetest baby ever! The bonding is the same with bottle feeding as my own personal opinion and experience.

Some of the advantages of breast feeding are:

o Infection-fighting such as ear infections, diarrhea, respiratory infections and meningitis. Breast milk contributes to the infant's immune system by increasing barriers to infection and decreasing the growth of organisms like bacteria and viruses.

o Breastfeeding is particularly beneficial for premature babies.

o Breastfeeding may protect children against allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

o Breast milk is easily digested by a newborn's immature digestive system. Breast milk is often called the "perfect food" for a human baby's digestive system.

o Breast milk naturally contains all the vitamins and minerals that a newborn requires.

o Breast milk is FREE.

o Women who breastfeed are less likely to have to take time off from work to care for their sick babies.

o Convenience: There are no bottles to mix and sterilize and no last-minute runs to the store for more formula. Breast milk is always fresh, available and the right temperature.

o Some studies show breast fed babies for at least 6 months have higher IQs than children who were formula fed.

Some Disadvantages of Breast feeding are:

o For some mothers it is easy from the start, for others it is difficult. Both baby and mother need plenty of patience and persistence to get used to the routine of breastfeeding. All the effort is often worth it in the long run.

o Personal comfort: Many mothers feel uncomfortable with breastfeeding. To overcome the discomforts seek out adequate education, support and practice.

o Latch-on pain is normal for the first week to 10 days and should last less than a minute with each feeding. If breastfeeding hurts throughout feedings, or if nipples and/or breasts are sore, seek the advice of your doctor. Many times it is just a matter of using the proper technique.

o You will need to limit caffeine intake during breastfeeding.

Types of commercial formulas:

o Powder (the least expensive)

o Liquid conentrate (requires dilution)

o Premixed ready-to-feed (the most expensive, but most convenient)

o Soy-based formula (if your baby is lactose-intolerant).

Always check the expiration date on the formula before you purchase and prepare your baby's bottle.
Infant formula is made to contain many of the same nutrients and components found in breast milk. These nutrients include protein, fat, vitamins A,C, D, E, K, iron, calcium and many more.

If you use a liquid or powder formula be sure to read the directions on how much water and formula to use. Follow these directions carefully and measure each time you prepare the formula. Mix the formula with cold water. Heat the bottle to the temperature your baby prefers. If you use water from a well, be sure to boil it before it is used to mix with the formula. You may also use bottled water. Before feeding your baby shake the bottle so the formula mixes evenly with the water. Prepare only enough formula to last a 24 hour period. Discard formula left after this period of time. Never microwave formula.

Glass bottles provide the longest use. If you use glass bottles check the bottle on a regular basis for any chips or cracks that can hurt your baby. There are also plastic and disposable bottles you can use.

Bottle nipples come in several varieties as well as different shapes. Ask your baby's doctor for a recommendation and try several different types to see which your baby prefers.

You should replace the nipple as needed. Ways to monitor for nipple replacement:

o The formula comes out too quickly.

o The nipple has become discolored.

o The nipple has deteriorated in any way. A weakened or damaged nipple is a potential choking hazard.

Other routine chores involved with bottle feeding are:

o Sterilizing the bottles

o Storing formula in your refrigerator. Remembering to discard to formula you do not use within the 24 hour period.

Bottle Feeding Possible Advantages:

o Commercially prepared infant formulas are a nutritious alternative to breast milk and even contain iron.

o Formula is manufactured under sterile conditions and attempted to duplicate mother's milk. If you bottle feed it is important to use a commercially prepared formula and that you do not try to create your own formula.

o Either parent (or another caregiver) can feed the baby a bottle at any time (although this is also true for women who pump their breast milk).

o Flexibility: Once the bottles are made, mother can leave her baby with a partner or caregiver. There is no need to pump or to schedule work or other obligations and activities around the baby's feeding schedule.

o No need to find a private place to nurse in public; however you will need to always carry baby's supplies for making formula.

o Formula digests slower than breast milk, therefore, babies usually need to eat less often than do breastfed babies.

o Mom does not have to worry about the things she eats or drink affecting her baby.

The best plan is to educate yourself as much as possible about both methods and then make your decision.

Graco Snug Ride Infant Car Seat With Base In Sachi

Buy Cheap Graco Snug Ride Infant Car Seat With Base In Sachi at Amazon.com Order New!

I picked this infant seat for a few reasons:

It is lightweight, only 7 lbs itself w/ out base,( and baby)

It has the EPS foam lining the seat between the plastic and the fabric baby sits on.

The fabrics used are easy to clean and are the colors I was looking for, Black, and Beige orange accent color. There is a velvet fabric in beige that is super soft!

It comes with a removable foot cover which will be great in the winter months or when going to the park in the stroller.

It also comes with removable shoulder strap covers (to lessen the irritation of the straps) and removable head support all which you can throw in the washer and clean if need be.

The canopy is a little flimsy but also removable, and it has a peep hole in the top so you can see the baby through it from the top.

The base it comes with is super easy to install took husband 5 mins, onces he read through the instructions, they make it very clear if it is installed correctly or not..
Overall I really like this car seat and I will recommend it to my friends. you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Color is not what I expected - Benjamin Marks -
The car seat is fine as far as usage and construction. What I found disappointing is the color and design of this particular car seat. It looks much better online than it does in person. In person, the fabric is more of a beige color than gray.

Great Car Seat, but... - Maria Hubbard - NYC, NY
We used this car seat from the day we brought our son home from the hospital and it was wonderful. We always felt that he was safe and secure, comfortably strapped in, and easy to transport.

Admittedly, we do not have a ton of experience with babies - this is our first, and none of our friends had babies before us. But when we were shopping for car seats we were told that 22lbs and 29" long (the limits on this particular car seat) would be at about 1 year of age. Our son is definitely a little bruiser, but he hit those restrictions at 7 and a half months. So we have been forced into buying yet another car seat only 8 months after buying the first one.

If I had it to do over again, I may have started with the convertible car seat to begin with - they have inserts that make them comfortable for newborns and work up to 50-60 pounds, depending on the brand.

Clek Oobr Booster Car Seat, Shadow

Buy Cheap Clek Oobr Booster Car Seat, Shadow at Amazon.com Order New!

Was looking for the next-step seat to replace the Britax Roundabout. Loved the Roundabout & Britax products so I went searching through their lineup but was unhappy with the installation of the Frontier and all the mixed reviews it had received. The Clek Oobr is just what I was looking for - the highest safety rating possible with a simple installation that will likely be the last seat we need (as it converts to a backless booster for children up to 57" and 100 lbs). This seat is definitely the most sturdy booster I have looked at and makes the Graco booster (leftover from my first child) feel like a toy. The reclining feature is a bonus for a booster seat, but we have yet to use this feature for snoozing yet as most of our car trips are under 15 min. You do use the recline to install the seat when using the ridged latch. I had never seen a ridged latch prior to this seat and it was one of the reasons I was unsure about ordering it. For all of you out there like me, I'll do my best to describe it. Instead of the latch hooks hanging on the end of an adjustable belt that loops through the back of the seat (as in the case of the Roundabout), the "ridged latch" hooks are built into the base of the seat. To install this seat, you pull the recline handle and the base of the seat towards you. This action extends the two latch "arms" from the back of the seat, which you then line up with your seat latch eyes (not sure if thats the right term?) and click into place. You can then adjust the seat to your preferred recline. It is very easy and (I feel) even more secure than the latches on the adjustable belt because there is never any "slack" to worry about. We used this seat recently in a vehicle without the latch system for the first time and although it is not as obviously not as stationary as when it is used with latch, I felt it fit much more snug than the other boosters I have experienced. At 35 lbs and 39" my child is at the very bottom of what is recommended for this seat, but the seat does a perfect job of keeping the belts in the correct position even on her small frame. Only had the seat a month, but the fabric appears to be durable so I am optimistic - only time will tell. Amazon had the best price I could find, and although it isn't cheap I feel the price is justified by the quality of the seat and the length of time we will be using it. Definitely would recommend to others. As always, quick shipping from Amazon! you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Travelling Safely With Child Car Seats

When travelling in a car you should always respect the law and respect your own safety as well as that of others by wearing a seatbelt at all times. It is important that everyone wears a seatbelt when driving as many shocking television adverts and evidence have show that even a passenger in the rear of a car can be badly harmed or cause worse fatalities to the buckled in driver and front passenger.

Often, seatbelts are designed with adults in mind and can sometimes cause trouble for small children travelling in the back. For this reason there are a wide range of child seats for all ages.

For older children in many cases the main issue is that they are too short for the seatbelt to be placed in the correct position. Booster seats much like you can get at cinemas or in hairdressers, can elevate the child to the proper height and so the seatbelt will protect the child rather than cause potential harm.

With smaller children especially babies, specialist child seats need to be used. In recent years many of these have come under scrutiny from various safety groups as some were found to not be safe for children in the event of an accident.

When choosing a child seat you need to choose the right one for the child who will be using it, they tend to come in three sizes: Newborn, Infant and Toddler.

Newborn car seats look a lot like general baby carrying baskets; they have a great level of protection for babies and can be front or rear facing.

Toddler and infant seats can look more like miniaturised car seats but have more complex harnesses to ensure that firstly a child cannot free themselves and move around the car but also provides the best protection in the event of a crash, the added harnesses spread the pressure from the seatbelt which could cause bruising or internal damage if the added harnesses were not there.

All child car seats need to be secured to the car, this is normally done via the existing seatbelt and the car seat will connect to the seatbelt or to the underside of the seat cushion. When buying a car seat many retailers will demonstrate how to correctly fit the seat so you know how to properly attach the seat to your car.

Once the car seat is secured, make sure that before any journey you test the tension on the seat, it shouldn't have much freedom to move or wobble around. A sharp pull on the seat imitating a frontal collision should be able to give you an idea of how secure the seat is.

Be sure to check with car safety information sources or your local motoring shop as many of these stores will offer advice and free demonstrations when selecting your child's car seat so that you can rest assured that your child is safe when you are driving and you can keep your mind on the road.

How to Keep Your Baby Safe Using a Rear-Facing Car Seat Or Infant Car Seat Base?

For the best possible protection, keep your infant in a rear-facing kid safety seat or infant car seat base in a rear seat for so long as possible to at least up to the height or weight limit of the particular seat. The 12-months-20-pounds rule that many parents cite when turning their child forward-facing in the automobile is basically the minimum size and age duty for that change. Thus, consult professionals if you were to turn your kids to forward-facing for the maximum protection.

Keep a baby rear-facing in a convertible seat until she reaches the maximum height or weight allowed by the maker. Many children will be over age 2 when they reach that weight. Rear-facing occupants in an infant car seat base are safest.

Use your infant's auto seat in a rear-facing position and assured that it is semi-reclined to less than 45 degrees, so that the baby's head stays in communication with the seat and the infant's airway stays open.

Ensure the buckled harness straps that keep your baby are correctly positioned and secured in the infant car seat base as well as fit comfortably. Remember, loose harness straps don't provide maximum protection. Also, ensure that the harness is tight enough that you cannot pinch webbing at the shoulder. Position the shoulder straps through the slots at or below your infant's shoulders. Adjust the chest clip to armpit level.

Your vehicle seat shouldn't move more than one in. side to side or front to back. Many new vehicles and auto seats are equipped with Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH). In most vehicles, rigid LATCH is extremely fast, easy and may offer additional protection, especially in dangerous side impacts. Grab the auto seat or infant car seat base at the safety belt or LATCH trail to test it. However, don't use both systems at the same time.

Many have the expiry date stamped on the seat. Contact the manufacturer of your particular seat to find out what its expiry date is. Ask the manufacturer if they do accept any trade-in of an old infant car seat base to a brand new one.

Never buy a second hand automobile seat or infant car seat base if you do not know its full history. Never employ a automobile seat that has been in a crash. Don't use any products that didn't come from the maker in or with the vehicle seat.

Additional toys may cause unforeseen injuries during a car crash. So, try and remove any toys from the auto seat base if possible.

Find the frontal airbags in your vehicle by checking the instruction manual. Never put a rear-facing car seat in front of an active frontal airbag. It has a chance to suffocate the infant during a car crash. Infants are always safest in a back seat. Have your car seat or infant car seat base checked by a now authorized child passenger safety technician to be sure it is properly installed.

Remember: All children younger than 13 years should ride in the back seat.

Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining

Buy Cheap Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining at Amazon.com Order New!

The Ergo is a very good carrier and is very supportive on your back. I can wear this carrier much longer then I can the Baby Bjorn. A couple of caveats...the actual size of it (it's bigger then the Bjorn). Also, the fact that you can only carry your baby face first. Yes, I know that is the point of it, but my baby wants to see what is going on in the world and always moves her head to the side, which is slightly difficult for her. Also, it would be great if the carrier had somewhere in front where you could put your hands. Other then that, it's a good carrier and I feel like it's very well made and therefore worth the price. you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining Feature

  • Waist belt circumference from 25" to 43"
  • Fits from 5' to 6.5' body height with adjustable shoulder and chest straps
  • Durability/strength tested up to 90 pounds
  • High Quality buckles tested by SGS
  • machine washable, gentle cycle

Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining Overview

The ERGO is the way to go when it comes to baby carriers. It's the best all around choice for carrying a baby anywhere from around the house to public places. The ERGO baby carrier is conveniently compact, comfortable to wear and provides sturdy support for your baby. The ergonomic design of the carrier ensures that your baby is in the correct sitting position to encourage proper hip, pelvis and spine growth. It does this by distributing most of the baby's weight between its hips and thighs. The design also considers the health and comfort of parents. The carrier balances the baby's weight to the parents' hips and shoulders, reducing physical stress. The padded waist belt supports the lumbar area plus 1" thick padding in the shoulder straps. It can be worn on front, back or hip and can easily be changed from one to the other. Ergo is perfect for when baby is too heavy for a sling or for when you plan on carrying your baby for extended periods of time, especially for hiking and walking. Unlike other frame back packs, with the ERGO the baby is right against your back so their weight seems less. When carrying a traditional hard frame back pack, your baby's center of gravity is further from your body and can be awkward and feel heavier. For comfortably carrying your infant, try the ERGO Infant Insert (sold separately). It supports your newborn like a baby sling while having both hands free to work. This lightweight carrier lets you carry your baby comfortably for long periods with your hands free and it looks great too. Features: Recommended use from newborn (with additional Infant Insert sold separately) up to 40 lbs Adjusts for most sizes, waist circumference extends from 25" up to 43" Attached Sleeping Hood supports sleeping baby's head and expands with the growth of your child Convenient pocket on back of carrier with side zipper for easy access

Easy transitional fantastic baby carrier - Sticci -
I've been looking for a great carrier for my newborn. This carrier is phenomenal. What's really great is it will grow as she grows. So many of the other carriers seem to be limited. It's very comfortable and breathes. The "hood" that's attached is perfect for blocking out the sun for my baby and snaps onto the shoulder straps so it doesn't slip. The Ergo Carrier comes with easy to follow instructions for front, back, side carry instructions. The front pouch is also great for a little burp cloth that's easy to grab. This carrier makes it easy to carry my baby but also leave my hands free!

Britax Decathlon Convertible Car Seat Huntington

Buy Cheap Britax Decathlon Convertible Car Seat Huntington at Amazon.com Order New!

We had trouble installing this in my Honda Civic. You can't install it properly in the middle of the back seat (like we had done with our Chicco Keyfit 30), so you have to put it on the passenger side of the back seat (so you can see the baby), and the seats are pretty deep. The fireman had to use 3 pieces of swimming noodle to get it to the proper angle, which is important so your baby's head doesn't fall forward if he or she falls asleep, as sleeping like that can reduce oxygen levels in the blood. you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Britax Decathlon Convertible Car Seat Huntington Specifications

Britax International has been manufacturing innovative, industry-leading child products for over three decades. Their dedication to safety, comfort, and convenience is certainly apparent in this convertible car seat. Parents will love being able to effortlessly secure baby in the Decathlon, and the peace of mind that comes with Britax’s renowned attention to safety standards. Baby will love that the Decathlon is comfortable from day one, and adjusts to stay that way as baby grows.

Safety first is a good rule of thumb, and one that Britax certainly heeds. The Decathlon offers features you might find on many other car seats, such as convertibility, a five-point harness, and the LATCH system. But Britax went above and beyond the norm when creating the functional and fashionable Decathlon car seat.

Harness
One-pull harness strap adjuster makes for a quick, easy, and snug fit every time.
The five-point harness system is made with strong polyester webbing, fits snugly over baby’s shoulders, collarbone and hips to provide a secure fit, and the straps are designed to remain tangle free. A patented "floating" HUGS (Harness Ultra Guard) system better distributes the webbing loads, reducing head movement and minimizing harness irritation on baby’s neck in case of an impact. Plus, HUGS reduces the chance of improperly positioning the chest clip. There is also a three-position crotch strap on the Decathlon that can be adjusted as baby grows, keeping the seat as comfortable as it was on day one. This is especially useful for toddlers who are consistently at the top of the growth chart.

Located near a vehicle's seatbelts, factory installed anchor points provide a secure and easy LATCH connection. In conjunction with this push-button release system, the Decathlon also offers Britax’s Versa-Tether®, an anchor aid that works both rear- and forward-facing and prevents the seat from tilting in the event of an impact. The Versa-Tether® fastens the top of the car seat to factory installed automobile anchor points, minimizing the possibility of a head injury.

But wait! There’s more! Whether your vehicle is LATCH compatible or not, the Decathlon provides built-in lock-off clips that keep the seat tightly in place when using only traditional seatbelts for installation. There’s a simple handle pull that allows the car seat to be easily reclined. The one-pull harness strap adjuster makes for a quick, easy, and snug fit every time. Newborns are guaranteed a smooth ride thanks to an infant positioning system, comfy padding, and belly pad. Older children will appreciate the removable toddler head pillow and soft fabric cover, which is removable and washable. The Decathlon is Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213 compliant, making it approved for airplane use as well.

recline feature
A simple handle pull allows the car seat to be reclined when rear-facing.
The Decathlon’s versatile, sculpted base means it will easily fit in almost every car, and can be positioned correctly every time. The car seat measures 19.5"W x 25.5"H x 24"D and weighs 20 pounds when empty. Since car seats are mandated by law, it’s nice to know that Britax is at least making the decision simple. The Decathlon is comfortable for baby on long drives, easy for parents to work when running everyday errands, available in a range of colors and patterns, and, most importantly, safe!

Comparing Britax Car Seats
If you’re debating between the Britax Decathlon and the Britax Marathon, there are two differences. First, the Decathlon offers additional padding for newborns with an infant positioning system. Second, the Decathlon has an adjustable three-position crotch strap, making it more comfortable for toddlers consistently at the top of their height percentage.
If you’ve narrowed it down to the Britax Decathlon and the Britax Boulevard (which have the same weight and height capacity), here are a few differences to help you decide. The Boulevard does not have the adjustable crotch strap or the no-thread shoulder strap harness adjuster. However, the Boulevard does feature Side Impact Protection (SIP) with the addition of supportive 'wings' in the headrest.

Normal Child Development - How Your Child Develops in a Normal Way

Every parent is concerned about the development of their child, and wants assurance that their child is growing and developing at a healthy rate. If you are a parent who has a basic understanding of normal child development you will have a clear understanding of how your child is most likely to develop, you'll have a basic calendar of events to look forward to, and you'll be better able to stimulate your child and encourage and assist them in healthy and age appropriate growth and development.

An understanding of normal child development can also draw attention to any potential growth and development challenges your child may encounter along the way. As your child reaches the chronological age that a particular milestone typically occurs in, then you can foster that growth by providing opportunities for your child to learn.

For example, at 12 weeks, an infant who is following the typical path of normal child development is learning to raise their head and shoulders to 90 degrees when they are lying on their belly. A great way to encourage your baby to develop the physical strength to reach this milestone is to allow them ample 'tummy time.'

When your baby is alert and content, lay them on a blanket on the floor; then get right down on the floor with them. Call to your baby, hold a toy out for them to look at, find a way to entertain them for short periods of time so that they have a chance to build up those neck and shoulder muscles. But don't push it. When your baby starts to get fussy, pick them up. Try and fit in a few times throughout the day to allow your baby to explore the world while on their tummy.

Normal child development is gauged in a child's cognitive development as well as their physical development. At around 6 months of age, babies are beginning to develop object permanence, which means that when an object is taken out of their sight they still remember that it exists.

A great way to help your baby develop this cognitive milestone in normal child development is to play peek-a-boo. Cover your face with a blanket and then whip it off with a smile. Your baby will be thrilled to see you re-appear again and again. Eventually, as your baby begins to figure it out, she will take the blanket off your face, because she will suddenly be in on the joke. She will have developed object permanence.

Babies also love to practice object permanence by dropping toys and watching you pick them up. So the next time your baby throws his toy off the high chair for the twentieth time, remind yourself that you are helping him develop his cognitive abilities by continuing to pick that toy up and put it back on the high chair.

A child masters an impressive list of accomplishments during infancy and toddler-hood. They begin life unable to lift their chin or effectively communicate their wants and needs. But week by week babies follow a chain of events developing skills and achieving milestones as they make their way along the path of normal child development. Being aware of these milestones allows us to be more aware and more involved in the growth and development of our child.

Child Car Seats - Great For Kids, Bad For Backs

Getting your child in and out of a car seat can literally become a pain. In fact, many parents of young children report developing back pain from constant bending and twisting when transporting their kids. This, combined with additional strain from regularly carrying a child or diaper bag, can really do damage to your back. Thus, it is important to follow a few key safety tips to save yourself some pain.

The movement you make when maneuvering a child in and out of a car seat is entirely unnatural. It commonly involves holding significant weight at arm's length while bending low at the waist. In this situation, both your weight and your child's are placed on your back without proper support from your hips and knees. This can lead to dangerous strain on the joints and muscles of your back and pelvis.

To avoid straining your back when maneuvering your child in and out of a car seat, make it a habit to rest your knee on the seat for support. Additionally, it is important to get as close to the car seat as possible when putting a child in. Holding a child with arms extended can lead to a strained muscle. By moving in closer, you can bend your arms for more support. Finally, never grab a child with only one arm. This not only places you off-balance, but can hurt the child you are picking up.

Handling the car seat itself can also lead to injury. When installing or removing the seat, be sure to lift it with both hands. You may find also it easier to install the seat from inside your vehicle, rather than leaning in from the outside. If you do stay outside, squatting down at the knee is less hazardous than leaning over, which places all your weight on your back. To make installation easier, see if your vehicle can accommodate a LATCH system car seat. These models do not use the car's seat belt. Instead, they are put into place using anchors built right into the car.

If you use a seat that doubles as a carrier, you should be especially careful with how you hold it. An infant car seat can weigh more than twenty pounds without anyone inside. Add your child's bulk, and you can be carrying a lot in one arm. This can hurt your posture and leave you with an aching spine. To avoid excess strain, try carrying the seat in front of you with both hands. If this seems awkward, carry it with one arm, but bend at the elbow and use your forearm for support.

There is no way to get around using a car seat. Not only is it the law, but these safety devices really do save lives. Unfortunately, these seats are not designed to save your back. However, by implementing these suggestions, you and your child will be a little more comfortable each time you drive.

Eddie Bauer Deluxe Convertible Car Seat Charcoal and Light Gray

Buy Cheap Eddie Bauer Deluxe Convertible Car Seat Charcoal and Light Gray at Amazon.com Order New!

I've been using this car seat for over a year with my son (soon to be 3) and it has held up wonderfully! My family lives 11 hours away so I was concerned about comfort on the long drive and how long the seat would hold up making that trip. It has held up wonderfully! I have on several occasions recommended this seat (often unsolicited). Hides stains and such very well. I also found it very easy to install, even when using the latch system. The size is great too because it isn't overly bulky but has plenty of room for my son, his snack, his sippy, elephant, 2 horses, dinosaur, and blanket.
Of course, there is one downfall. While this says the pad is removable for washing - and the newer model may have gotten it right - my cover does not come out for washing.

Overall, worth every penny & more! Safe, secure, & comfy! you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.

Not so hot to trot - oc mommy -
I found this product difficult to install. Would have wanted to know that the latch system is difficult to use and that my the headrest is very difficult to properly adjust for my sons comfort.

Awful! - C. Durbin - Kentucky
This car seat is horrible. We used the LATCH system with the seat facing the rear. It was so hard for my husband and I to tighten the seat enough. It kept tipping over, even with towels underneath. Also, the head rest is huge!! My son's head is either down or flopped to the side, and he hates it. I wish we could remove it, but it doesn't come off. We received this as a gift before he was born, so we have no way of returing it. I am very disappointed.

Baby Sleeping Problems

I know how frustrating it must be for you getting your lovely little baby to sleep and stay asleep all night. You see, you are not alone with this problem. Lots of other people also have this problem. But this piece will provide you with workable ways to ensure your lovely little baby sleeps and stays asleep all night.

First things first, babies don't cry and stay awake all night just for the fun of it. In most cases something is wrong that prevents them from sleeping at night. The solution is to find what that is and make your baby comfortable. This is closely related to the "cause and effect" philosophy which says for every effect there is a cause. So, for your baby to remain awake at night crying (which is the effect), there certainly is a cause!

Find what the "cause" is and solve it, then the "effect" will also be solved! Below are some of the "causes" why babies stay awake crying at night and how you can solve them so that your baby can sleep and stay asleep all night: Wet nappies can keep babies awake at night: When your baby's nappies are wet, this can keep him or her awake at night. Ensure the nappies are dry at night. Better still, use the kinds of nappies that can hold liquid all night long without being wet and uncomfortable for the baby.

Hunger can keep babies awake at night: Even adults will find it difficult to sleep at night, let alone babies. Make it a habit to feed your baby well before you put him or her to sleep at night; this will help ensure he or she remains asleep all night:

Ill-health or general discomfort can keep babies awake at night: Imagine how uncomfortable you will feel if you are sick or just uncomfortable. Babies feel worse when they are ill. Check your baby's temperature and see if he or she is feeling ill. You see, when babies are ill, hungry or wet, they can't tell anyone. The best way they feel they should express their discomfort is by crying and crying and crying.

Finally, whenever you notice that your baby won't sleep at night, look closely to see if any of the above "causes" are responsible, then do as I have advised above to take care of the cause so that the "effect" will be a sound and long sleep all night long.

You could use anything to do the same job, but this is the easiest way. For a mysterious reason car seats are never leveled and I used to put a folded towel underneath. • Positions infant at the correct angle.
  • Helps to level rear-facing child safety seats.

Sunshine Kids Sit-Rite© - Car Seat Leveler Overview

Today's contoured vehicle seats often tilt infant carriers back towards the rear of the seat, positioning infants at an incorrect angle. Sit-Rite helps to level rear-facing child safety seats and position infants at the proper angle.Forget rolled-up towels. Sit-Rite will not flatten during tightening and installation, and the dense foam construction adds firm, lateral support to the vehicle seat to help discourage sideways tipping. Site-Rite fits all rear-facing safety seats and infant carrier bases and is LATCH compatible.
