Sweet Soft Blankets Are Great Baby Gifts

Cuddly soft baby blankets are one of the most cherished and beloved baby gifts of all. Why? Because it is one of the most important items you place next to your baby's delicate skin during his beginning stages of life. When choosing a baby blanket one should always look for a fabric that is really soft, easily washable, durable, and breathable.

Where ever you find a new baby you will probably find a sweet baby blanket wrapped tightly up enjoy its warms and comfort. One of the reasons soft blankets are important is so it doesn't irritate babies skin and so it feel appealing to the baby as he is laid down and wrapped up in one.

There are a number of different materials to choose from and a lot of it depends on your location and the climate you are in, also, whether the baby will be inside or out. Babies do not have the ability to regulate their body temperate very well so it's imperative to keep them warm while making sure you don't overheat them which can be very dangerous.

If you are in a cool environment or planning on going outdoors a nice soft fleece blanket is great. Cashmere, chenille, and heavy cotton are also great choices when its cold and they also work well in medium to cool climates as cotton is breathable and can be airy. There are heavy blankets and thin blankets- meant more for swaddling baby. Some of the thinner cotton blankets are perfect for the summertime and if you are going out on a hot day. Remember that even if you are outdoors on a warm day the baby will still need protection from the sun and wind so keeping his body temperature constant is important.

Babies really enjoy being swaddled and nice thin cotton or flannel blankets allow you to safely wrap the baby as the fabric works baby's temperature and are comfortable for them.

Many new moms often receive special knitted or crocheted blanket as gifts and these are perfect for using as throws or laying gently over baby while on a walk or in her car seat. Its best not to use these blankets as swaddlers since the yarn can become entangled in babies hands and more if they try to wiggle.

When choosing baby blankets, just as with other items for the infant, safety should always be your first priority. Blankets should not have any holes or gaps that the baby might get caught on so always double check the blanket before wrapping or placing baby in one as even the washing machine can cause unknowing damage.

Finding that perfect and super sweet baby blanket for your newborn can be overwhelming so check out our site were we have made it super easy for you to find just what you need to wrap your baby in the ultimate comfort.

Choosing a Toddler Car Seat - How to Help Ensure Your Child's Comfort and Safety

Most children are ready to start using a 'toddler' seat at about six months of age, until they transition into a 'booster' seat at approximately 2 years of age. Toddler seats are forward facing, and typically use a combination of the car's seat belts or a special anchoring system, and a separate harness, to secure the seat and the child. Many toddler seats allow the child to ride in either an upright or a reclined position, and some models raise the child up sufficiently to be able to easily see out of the vehicle's windows while in the upright position. Child car seat manufacturers are bound by very strict guidelines, and you may be surprised to find that some of the more expensive car seats don't provide any better level of protection than those which are more moderately priced.

Toddler seats come in three basic varieties: (1) those that can be used only as a toddler seat, (2) those that can be used both as an infant and a toddler seat, and (3) those that can be used both as a toddler and a booster seat. Seats that are designed to be used in two different modes are called 'convertible'seats.

Convertible infant/toddler seats can be used for children from infancy (with the seat in the rear facing position), into their toddler years (with the seat turned around and used in the forward facing position), until they are ready for a booster seat. In the rear facing mode, these types of seats can typically be used with a child up to about 25 lbs, and then used in the forward facing position until the child reaches about 40 lbs. These types of seats have a larger seat than an infant only seat, and many come with padded inserts for use when the child is still small.

Convertible toddler/booster seats are forward facing, and typically use both the car's seat belts and a separate harness during the 'toddler' stage, and just the car's seat belts during the 'booster' stage.

The Danger of Child Car Seat Defects

There are countless tools and devices that are used to keep children safe. Because children as so vulnerable to injury, it is important that these objects exist for the benefit of the young ones in our lives. Because these tools are used to make children safer it is particularly tragic when the very devices meant to keep them safe end up causing harm.

Common Causes of Child Car Seat Defects

Child car seats exist to utilize a vehicle's safety belt system in order to keep children secure and safe until they are physically large enough to properly use a seat belt by itself. The devices are manufactured for comfort, easy use, and above all, safety. However, often time these child seats can prove to be defective, potentially creating harmful situations for the parents and children making use of the devices. Some common causes of child car seat defects include the following:

  • The use of improper or defective materials

  • Improperly testing the device

  • Insufficient testing of the seat before it hits the market

Best Baby Car Seats

Parents are normally eager to buy the best baby car seats that are available in the market. The reality is that, the seats available in the market are the one that can fit in your car, suits your budget and comforts your baby. There is no one best one; you have to decide which the best is for you. Do you have a big car or a small car? What type of a driver are you? Is your child healthy? An answer to all these questions will help you decide what type will work the best for your baby.

Most of the car seats in United States have to pass federal crash test. Few types may have certain additional features which makes them very easy to install like in-built non twisting straps or locking clips. Due to the requirement of safety while installing car seats installation helpers usually add safety measures. But, even one of the cheapest car seat without additional features has to pass this crash test since it is one of the main factors when it comes to baby's safety.

When you are about to select one of the best for your child you have to consider the age, weight and height of your baby. Rear facing seats are usually used until your child weighs about twenty lbs. However, convertible baby car seats are used until your child turns one year old and weighs around 20 lbs. If you consider your baby's height, then your baby's head has to be one inch below the rear facing car seats. For front facing ones your baby's ear must be below the top of the cars seat.

One of the most expensive and full with useful features is at times not suitable for your child if you do not read the installation process and direction carefully. You have to check the manual available while installing your baby car seat and use it as it has been directed. Always select the one for your child which will be easy for you to install according to the instruction in the manual. With several car seats available in the market not all of them fit perfectly in your car. This is why it is necessary to find out a car seat that fits in your car perfectly with exact angle and without any difficulty.

Most of the reputable stores that deal in baby products will usually have a sample in their store which can be tried by you before you purchase a particular car seat for your baby. While buying one of the best baby car seats you have to bypass all the types of installation aids and accessories. If any item does not come with the car seat it means the one is not safe to utilize. After market products are those products which do not pass the crash test and so please avoid purchasing those products as it may injure your baby during any accident.

These products may include seat belt ratchets head positioners that are not required if you have properly installed the car seat. So, take all the following aspects into consideration when you purchase the best baby car seat as to keep you child safe from injuries as long as possible.

How to Choose the Perfect Safety Car Seat

Finding the right car seat for your baby or child isn't something that should be done overnight. It takes time to learn about them, and to find out what you're really looking for. If you're new at buying car seats, there are a few things you should inform yourself about first.

Learn - First of all, you need to learn a little about the seats. Do some research on the Internet and see what they are used for, and what they have to offer. If you can just compare and see what makes them all different and similar you will learn what you want for your little one's seat.

Opinions - It is good to get opinions from others. Talk with some people you know that have them for their children and ask them which kind they have and what they like and don't like about them. You can also check out car seat reviews online. At my website there is a whole list on all the different reviews for each seat.

Features - You also want to keep the features in mind as well. Are you looking for the LATCH system, removable and washable fabric, cup holders, body pillows, etc?

Price range - Once you've taken a good look at all the car seats on the market you want to see what you can get for your money. You don't have to spend a whole lot on one to get a good one. Although, you don't want to be too cheap to where it's not that safe either. Just see what you can get for your money, and see what kind of features, brand, and reviews are said about this car seat.

There is a lot to look for when it comes to shopping for one. You should take your time, get one well ahead of time (before you take them home from the hospital), and find one with some of the best features. Consider a few of these tips, and you'll be finding some of the best on the market in no time.

Important Tips For Finding the Best Infant Car Seat

When it comes to finding the best car seat for your new baby, it is always important to plan ahead. After all, the nursery has been ready for the new arrival for several weeks, so your car should be ready also. There are many things to consider before you buy a baby seat, because it will be one of the most important decisions you make for you the safety or your child.

Safety is the number one thing to keep in mind when shopping for an infant seat. There are many different brands and styles of seats available, so it is a good idea to compare the safety features of different seats before making a decision. It is important to make sure that the seat is certified to comply with your state requirements. A rear facing infant seat is the only one that is safe for babies up to a year old or up to 20 pounds and should be secured to the rear of the middle seat of the car. Never use a baby seat for an infant that is designed for older children or seats that face forward.

When you are making a purchase that involves the safety of your child while traveling, the purchase of a seat that is suited for your car is quite possibly one of the most crucial car accessories you will buy. Making sure that the baby seat fits properly in your vehicle is important before you buy. The straps should hold it securely and not allow it to move more than one inch on either side. The owner manual for your car and the directions provided by the manufacturer of the child seat will help you make sure that you are securing the car seat the correct way.

The comfort of your baby is essential when you are trying to decide which infant seat is the best one to buy. Seats designed for older children are too big for infants and the seat harness will not hold your baby securely. It is critical to be sure that the baby seat reclines at a 45-degree angle to prevent the head from tilting forward and thus helping to prevent the chance of suffocation.

Price and ease of use are things to think about also. The most expensive baby seat may not be the best. Many of the less expensive styles of infant seats are just as good and as easy to use as the ones that cost a lot more. Some of the brands that have top consumer ratings are; Graco, Baby Trend, Chicco and Evenflo.

Additionally, the Department of Transportation and Safety in your state can give you the most up to date information on infant seats. They also provide classes to teach you the proper way to use and install them in your vehicle. Government and state regulations change from time to time, so it is best to occasionally check with your local agency to keep up with changes in the requirements.

The American Red Cross and The First Years have joined together to offer a collection of infant and toddler wellness and safety products that parents can trust. Helps to observe child in rear seat at a glance. Fits most standard rear view mirrors. Attaches easily to rear view mirror. Displays view of back seat, swivels as needed.

Best Customer Review

- I was looking for another child view mirror to replace the one I was using (an Eddie Bauer one from Target). The previous mirror allowed for forward/backward and side-to-side adjustments based on a hinge and swivel set-up, but the forward/backward hinge wore out after a few months; whenever I would accelerate or brake while driving in normal conditions (i.e. no jack-rabbit starts or short stops), the mirror would swing forward and backward and my son would no longer be in view -- annoying, needless to say. This mirror works great for us. It was super easy to install and once I have the mirror set to where I want it, is rock-solid. While its reflection isn't crystal clear, it is more than clear enough and is on par with all the other safety mirrors I have seen and used. I highly recommend it, and for the price, isn't it worth a try?

Baby Car Seat Cover

When choosing the best car seat cover, you need to make sure that the seat will be the best one so that you can protect your child from injury as you drive around. Baby car seat covers, even the inexpensive ones have all undergone the same federal crash test before it is released in the market. The choice that a parent now needs to do is to get the seat that will fit for their type of vehicle and will support their child in case of an accident.

Baby car seat covers can save the life of your child when installed properly in your vehicle. It is important before buying the seat to make sure that you can install the baby seat cover properly in the seat of your vehicle. Read the manual carefully so that you follow the instructions and safety measures in properly installing the seat to your vehicle. Most stores will allow you to test baby car seat cover with a dummy baby seat cover and allow you to check if it will fit the seat of your vehicle with the supervision of one of their employees. If the store does not have a test baby car seat cover, check the store's return policy so that you can return it if in case it does not fit your vehicle's seat. One way to check if the seat is properly installed to the seat of your vehicle is that is does not wiggle more than an inch when you wiggle the seat from side to side.

Also make sure that the seat will fit your child. Most seats can hold weights up to 20lbs. for infant car seats. The car seat should have an inch or more allowance from the top to the head of your infant for rear facing car seats, and for front facing car seats, the allowance is the top of your child's ears should be below the top of the seat.

Never buy accessories that did not come together with the baby car seat cover. These accessories may void the warranty of the seat when used together with the seat. These accessories also may not have been tested together with the baby car seat cover so it may not be safe for use.

When buying used seats make sure that you check if there have been any alterations made on the seat. Also check if these used seats have been part of any market product recalls in the past before purchase. If you cannot get an accurate history of the used seat, best not to buy it. Used seats that may have survived a car crash may not survive a second crash and may put the life of your child in danger. Registering the new seat will allow manufacturers to contact you if in case of any product recalls.

  • Seat height 27" - 32.5"
  • One hand single button headrest adjustment
  • Foldable for easy storage
  • Aluminum reinforced structure
  • Cover is breathable, washable fabric
  • 6 headrest positions

Best Customer Review

- The Recaro booster seat is the 3rd brand we purchase, and definately the best. We recommend this seat!

First we purchased a Eddie Bauer booster seat. This seat had a very thin and fragile design with hardly any side protection or padding.

Second, we purchased serveral Graco Turbo Booster seats. These seats are not bad, but are not as solid as the Recaro. We still use these seats in our second car.

Third, we purchased the Recaro. These seats are much more solid than anything else we have seen. It also has very good side protection. Because of this, it is important that the kid is tall enough for the seat (as with all booster seats). You can adjust height of the back.

We have also had problems with previous seats that the kids fall forward in the seat when they go to sleep. The angle of the Recaro seat's back can be adjusted, so the seat's back can tip back some. With this feature, the kids are more likely to sleep more comfortably.

We were a little concerned before the purchase because of previos reviews saying it is hard to buckle the Recaro seat due to it's design. We have 3 carseats in a small car, and we don't experience it as harder to buckle this seat compared to the Graco seats.

The Three Main Types of Car Seats For Your Child

There are three main types of car seats that will be used throughout the growth cycle of your children. The type used will be determined by the weight and height of your child rather than the age. In this article, I will detail the three main types of car seats, and the size limit of each so that you will know which car seat is appropriate to use for your child in relation to his or her development.

The first car seat I will cover is the infant car seats. All infant car seats are rear-facing only and can be used until your baby weighs about 30 lbs. However, you may find that different brands have different standards, but the 30-pound limit is the average. Infants should always travel in their car seats every single time they travel by car. They are essential for protecting your child from injury and death in case of an impact.

The next car seat I will cover is the convertible. This one differs from the infant in that it can be used both rear facing and front facing. It can be used until your baby weighs about 40 lbs, and in some cases even heavier. Some can even hold children up to 80 pounds! Because they can accommodate larger children, convertible cars seats are typically larger than infant car seats. Convertibles do not have bases and are not easily moved from one car to another. Some parents find these bigger seats more difficult to use for smaller children.

The last type of car seat I want to cover is the booster. This type is generally the most common type. They are used for children who have outgrown their regular ones but are not yet big enough to use a seat belt. This is usually achieved when your child is about 4'9". Believe it or not, some boosters are built just like the combo seat in that they can feature a back like a car seat. The difference is that they lack the harness restraint system. Once your child has outgrown his or her infant car seat, or the convertible, they should be able to sit safely in a booster car seat.

A car seat must be used every time your child travels with you in your vehicle. Determining which one to use among the three main types is easy when you know what to look for. Your choices are the infant car seat used for children up to 40 lbs, the convertible used for children weighing from 40 lbs up to 80 lbs, and the booster used until your child is big enough to use the seat belt properly. Keep in mind that the age of your child isn't going to be the determining factor in the choice of seat. It's your child's weight and height.

Knowing which type of car seat to use is important. One of the best we've found is the Britax Companion Car Seat for quality, safety, and comfort.
